Our Story
We met through a mutual friend in 2017 and deepened our friendship through volunteer work at the local Community Center in North San Juan, California. Through our time serving on the board, we hosted workshops taught by women in our community for women’s empowerment through developing skills in areas of business, food preservation, power tools and mechanics and more. We also curated a pollinator mandala garden and community vegetable garden, started a summer farmers market and opened the first emergency winter warming shelter in our town. With common values for people care, gardening, and access to fresh food and medicine, we became good friends and started envisioning other ways we could work together.
We both have a love for plants and pollinators and when presented the chance to take a 6 month gardening and herbalism course from two highly regarded women in our community, we both dug in. From there we continued our studies in depth in Vitalist Herbalism, learning to commune with plants, how to feel the medicine in our bodies and notice the subtle energetic changes in sampling even the smallest amount.
Our Values
Care for soil, pollinators, water and plants that we use are all paramount to our integrity in creating wholesome medicine. It’s not only about making a product for us, but all the carefully chosen paths that are taken along the way. We continually ask ourselves; how can we do this better, be more mindful and support a vibrant ecosystem? In vitalist tradition it starts with supporting life and making choices that serve your highest purpose. We do this through regenerative gardening, caring for the soil, making compost, mulching, and caring for people by making high quality medicine. To further help reduce our environmental impact, we use recycled packing materials, so don’t be surprised if your box says ‘granola bars’ on the front ;). We also use glass jars that can be reused and avoid plastic whenever possible.
Currently we work with organically grown herbs and when possible, local and responsibly wild crafted herbs. At this time, we source from organic farms and are in the process of partnering with local gardeners as well as cultivating gardens on our land. We have a goal to personally cultivate up to 50% of the herbs we use in our formulas by the end of 2022, and up to 70% by the end of 2023 using permaculture and regenerative farming practices.
